🧊 The Iceberg Principle

Did you know that 90% of an iceberg’s mass is underwater?

That means that if you were to see an iceberg from above water, there would be 9 times more of it that you could not see.

That’s what The Iceberg Principle is: behind every story is a lot that you don’t see.

Let’s take the example of a musician.

We might get to see them selling out an arena tour, playing their heart out, but we don’t see the 10,000 hours of practice that has got them to that stage - pun intended.

Someone who proves this example is Ed Sheeran.

Here’s a clip where Ed shares that he wasn’t “born with talent”, and that he’s actually had to work a lot on his singing ability.

Here’s what Ed’s iceberg might look like:

If I consider what we’re building with Wisdom Made Easy, most people just see the visual illustrations or the 100,000+ following we’ve built.

What you haven’t seen is the countless hours we’ve spent learning how to use ProCreate.

Or the numerous times I’ve wanted to throw my iPad out of the window because our scheduling software has failed us for the 100th time, resorting to manually publishing the meaningful message.

It’s the unseen activities that get you the seen results.

🤔 What Can We Learn From This?

There’s a few things that we can takeaway from this analogy:

• No matter what you are striving to achieve, it’s the 90% behind the scenes that’ll get you there

• If you are striving for larger visible success, your unseen activities will need to increase too

• We only see everyone else’s tip of the iceberg, so be compassionate because you don’t know what else they’ve given to get there
