A good opportunity at the wrong time is still the wrong fit.

You can prepare too soon, or hesitate too long.

Wisdom is knowing when to grasp an opportunity and when to wait.

What better way to represent today’s nugget of wisdom than with today’s illustration?

We’ve likely all eaten a banana that was a bit too ripe to eat.

And don’t get me started on how small the window is for getting the perfect avocado!

But just like how you can learn to identify when a fruit is ready to be eaten, you too can learn to identify when an opportunity is perfect for you.

Let’s check out a saying that builds upon today’s wisdom:

Success happens when opportunity meets preparation.

- Zig Ziglar

It’s not just about being in the right place at the right time - it’s about being the right person when the time comes.

Perhaps you’re already in the season to make the most of the opportunities available to you.

But if that’s not the case, what can you do to prepare so that you seize the day when your opportunity comes?

Opportunities don’t just require courage - they require timing!

Grab something too early and you might not be ready. Wait too long and it may pass you by.

But when you’ve prepared and the timing is right, it can change everything.

Here are 3 ways to approach opportunities with wisdom:

  1. Prepare before the door opens.

Most people wait until an opportunity shows up to get ready. The wiser move is to prepare in advance: sharpening your skills, building relationships, and staying alert.

It’s about making sure when the moment comes that you’re ready to say yes.

  2. Recognise the signs of “just right.”

The best time to act is when your preparation meets possibility.

Look for alignment: clarity, capacity, and peace.

It may still feel uncomfortable, but you’ll know you’re not forcing it or falling behind.

  3. Don’t fear missing out - just keep growing.

Not every missed opportunity is a failure.

Some come back in a new form, and others weren’t meant for you at all.

If you keep growing, learning, and showing up, the right ones will find you again, and you’ll be even more ready.

Let’s dive deeper into today’s wisdom with these 3 journal prompts:

  • Have I ever jumped at something too early or held back for too long?

  • What opportunity am I preparing for right now, even if it hasn’t arrived yet?

  • How can I better recognise the “just right” timing in the season I’m in?

We often find ourselves stuck in narrow social circles with similar people.

What habits confine us, and how can we break them?
