I Owe You an Apology

I owe you an apology.

Earlier this week, I emailed what I thought was the approximately 260 people on the Journal Wiser waitlist.

Turns out I accidentally distributed it to the entire WISER community.

I am sorry if you did not want to receive that - it won’t happen again.

But long-time readers of WISER know that when I tend to experience mishaps like this, I use them as opportunities to reflect, learn, and share those learnings with you.

So let’s get WISER together.

🎢 Life Is a Rollercoaster

Can you relate to this visual?

Life can feel like a rollercoaster.

Delightful highs.

Devastating lows.

This week has been no different.

I’ve had a lot to celebrate:

  • I got to listen to my baby’s heartbeat again

  • I welcomed more members into Journal Wiser

  • I received great feedback for a client project

  • I submitted some high quality work in my day-job

  • Ricky and I made some great progress with the WISER rebrand

But there’s also been a number of lows:

  • My wife and I spent the early hours of Tuesday morning at the Maternity Assessment Unit over a pregnancy concern (everything is okay)

  • I witnessed dozens of people unsubscribe from this newsletter because I accidentally sent them the aforementioned email

  • I experienced almost crippling levels of stress and overwhelm with all of the priorities that I’m trying to juggle

All of it is 100% natural.

It’s okay to feel the excitement and elation of the highs, but it’s equally understandable to feel the disappointment and devastation of the lows.

You might be reading this after a good week.

You could be reading it in utter despair.

Either way, please know that what you are feeling is natural and that you are not alone.

📝 How am I feeling this week? What have been my highs and lows?

🔎 If It Feels Bumpy…

If, like me, you’re feeling all of the bumps at the moment, I have a piece of advice for you:

Zoom out.

This visual says it all.

It might feel like things are bumpy when we assess things day-to-day, but when we zoom out, we can see the enormous progress we’re making.

If I consider where I was this time last year:

  • My wife and I weren’t sure we could have a child

  • The WISER Newsletter was half the size it is today

  • Journal Wiser was just a distant dream

  • My mental health was a lot more turbulent

It might feel like the road is bumpy, but take a step back and recognise just how far you’ve come.

Your past-self used to dream of what you are today.

📝 Where were you this time last year? Where have you seen growth?

📝 Journal Prompts
