Now let’s get WISER together!
🌋 The Pressure is Rising
I have learned a lot since starting Wisdom Made Easy last year.
When I started posting, I never would have expected things to have gone this well.
100,000 followers in less than a year?! How on Earth was I to have foreseen that?!
It’s safe to say it’s a pleasure to be able to spend my time getting wiser and encouraging you all to get wiser, but that’s not to say it is without its challenges.
The reality is…
😥 I Feel the Pressure
I don’t want this to sound ungrateful because I certainly wouldn’t have it any other way, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t find it daunting; that it didn’t cause me additional stress.
It’s exciting to think that nearly 2 million people see our visuals each month, but that is a HUGE responsibility, right?
Think about the damage you could cause if you spread the wrong message to this many people.
You don’t have to look hard online to find examples of individuals promoting inappropriate narratives that further such things as misogyny and racism.
But here’s my secret with how I deal with pressure…
😅 I Want the Pressure
Granted, I don’t like the pressure all of the time, but part of the reason that Wisdom Made Easy is exceeding our expectations is because pressure can result in peak performance.
Our secret to dealing with pressure is to embrace it because it’s when we’re at our best.
Allow me to introduce you to the Yerkes-Dodson Law.

The premise originally developed in 1908 suggests that one’s performance improves with pressure, but only up to a certain point.
In other words, with too little stress, pressure or stimulation, one’s output is limited. It’s not the ideal conditions to get the best out of someone.
I’m sure you can relate, right? When the stakes are too low, it’s difficult to motivate yourself to the best of your ability.
And on the other end of the spectrum, too much stress, pressure or stimulation will result in someone feeling overwhelmed and unable to perform at their best.
It’s like the Goldilock’s Principle! You need the pressure to be just right.
🤔 What Can We Learn About This Principle?
I’m conscious that some of you might be thinking “I don’t like any pressure!”
I can respect that, but it is good to remember that pressure makes diamonds, so we need a little pressure every so often.
So today I want to challenge you:
Every issue we feature Journal Prompts (below) for those of you that like to journal through your thoughts and feelings.
This gives you a chance to consolidate and reflect on what you’ve read here.
Today I encourage you to reflect on whether you are performing at your best.
If you are - great!
If you’re not - why not?
Could you do with more pressure? Maybe less?
In the next few weeks we’ll hear how Kacy Maxwell shared a goal publicly to push himself to publish his first children’s book.
Make sure you’re subscribed so that you don’t miss that issue!
✍️ Journal Prompts
• Are you currently performing at your best?
• Do you think you are experiencing too little, too much or the optimal level of pressure/stress/stimulation?
• What could you do to put yourself closer to that optimal amount of pressure/stress/stimulation?
Consider journaling through the above questions yourself.

1️⃣ You know that we love a TEDx Talk, and today we have the perfect one for this topic.
In the below video, Janell MacAulay shares how she achieves high performance under pressure.
2️⃣ The second recommendation is because I had this song stuck in my head the whole time whilst writing this issue. 😅
