Every time someone subscribes to the WISER Newsletter, I invite them to share a challenge that they are facing, and a very popular response: decision-making.

This newsletter aims to help you if you struggle with decision-making.

Allow me to introduce: The B.R.A.I.N.S Framework.

🧠 B.R.A.I.N.S Framework

B.R.A.I.N.S is a 6-step framework, where the acronym stands for:

  • Benefits

  • Risks

  • Alternatives

  • Intuition

  • Nothing

  • Second opinion

Let’s breakdown these 6 steps:

Benefits

When you’re trying to make a decision about taking a certain action, first consider the benefits of the choice that you’re considering.
What is the good that could come from that choice?

Risks

Now that we’ve considered what good can come from this decision, consider what bad could occur.
What are the risks from making that choice?

Alternatives

There could be more options available.
What are the alternatives?

Intuition

Take a moment to listen to your gut.
What is your intuition telling you?

Nothing

Instead of acting, you could do nothing.
What would happen if you didn’t make a decision and just continued as things are?

Second Opinion

If after considering all of the above you still don’t know what to do, consider getting a second opinion.
Who could you ask for their advice?

🎬 Framework in Action!

Now that I’ve introduced you to this framework, allow me to share an example of how this works:

Most of you will know that I’m developing a self-paced programme called Journal Wiser.

Part of developing this has required me to decide which platform to use to run this course.

I was leaning towards Kajabi, so I opted to run it through the B.R.A.I.N.S Framework:

The benefits of Kajabi are clear. It’s a great platform, used by many reputable businesses, with a vast amount of useful features, which will result in a great learning experience for everyone.

The risk of using this platform though is that it is a big investment solopreneur, and it’s one that I’m less familiar with.

There’s lots of great alternatives: Circle, Mighty Networks, Thinkific and many more. All have their strengths and weaknesses, but most notably is that they’re more affordable than Kajabi.

But in my gut, I feel like Kajabi will be worthwhile. My intuition tells me that even though it might cost more, I’m setting out to make the most comprehensive journaling course, not the most profitable one.

I could just do nothing, though. I could stop the development of this course, and probably experience less stress, but then I know that people will miss out on learning the life-changing habit of journaling.

So I got a second opinion! I spoke with my confidants Pejman Milani and Hannah Wilson about their experience with their teaching platforms.

After running through this framework, I had considered everything that I needed to make an informed decision.

In this case I’ve opted to use Kajabi to give learners the best experience.

Now that you have seen this framework in action, why not…

📱 Share My Visuals on Socials!

One if the most common questions that I get asked is:

“Can I use your visuals on my socials?”

The simple answer: YES!

I’m on a mission to get wiser and encourage other people to get wiser, so I love it when you want to share my visuals with your networks too.

That being said, it’s worth noting that there is a right way to share them.

If you would like to learn how you can share my visuals for free, you can do so here:
