Just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean that it isn’t there.

Perhaps it’s just hidden, waiting to be discovered.

Your potential is the same.

Today’s Illustration sums up this wisdom perfectly:

There is so much beauty hidden beneath the surface of seemingly ordinary things.

Perhaps the same is true of you.

Let’s build on today’s wisdom with this quote:

❝

“Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

- Howard Thurman

Yes, I’m sharing one of my favourite quotes with you yet again.

Perhaps discovering your potential doesn't start by asking what you're good at.

Start by noticing what makes you come alive.

Your enthusiasm might be pointing towards something worth exploring.

After sharing recently about fulfilling your potential, a few people told me:

“I don't know what my potential is.”

That broke my heart.

I believe we're created in the image of God, wonderfully made, with something unique to contribute to the world.

The difficult part is that we don't always know what that is yet.

Your potential might simply need uncovering.

So, if you're struggling to see yours:

  1. Follow what makes you come alive.

    What gives you energy?
What could you talk about for hours?
    What work feels meaningful?

Pay attention to those things. They might be clues.

  2. Question the voices that defined you.

A bad grade, critical teacher or comparison from years ago doesn't determine your potential.

Maybe you weren't bad at everything. You simply hadn't discovered your thing yet.

  3. Keep digging.

There's no deadline for discovering what you're capable of.

Some people find their path at 18; others at 48.

Don't assume there's nothing inside simply because you haven't uncovered it yet.

You don't need to have yourself figured out.

Keep exploring. Keep digging. Keep cracking things open.

You might be surprised by what you find.

Let’s dive deeper into today’s wisdom with these 3 journal prompts:

  • What makes me come alive?

  • What old criticism or label might I need to stop believing?

  • What could I explore next to learn something new about myself?

Today’s resource is The Element by Ken Robinson.

Robinson explores the intersection between our natural abilities and the things we're passionate about. He also explains why some people reach adulthood without discovering where those things meet.

Through stories of people who found their path in unexpected ways and at different stages of life, he challenges the idea that we should already have everything figured out.

It’s practical, so if you’re keen to unpack how you can fulfil your potential more, this one’s for you.
