1 Actionable Tip for When Things Feel Heavy
Hello friends, it’s Michael here!
Before I dive into this week’s newsletter, I have an important announcement to make about Wisdom Made Easy.
If you’ve been following us since 2022, you’ll know that Wisdom Made Easy initially started as just me posting online.
As I began to explore more ways to encourage you to get wiser and take on client commissions to fund those aspirations, it became obvious that I couldn’t do this alone.
So Zac came on board in January 2023! Since then, we have achieved a lot together.
We launched our first digital product
Amassed a following of 150,000 across platforms
Produced 50+ visuals for clients
Encouraged even more people to get wiser than we could have imagined
But as of this week, Zac has left Wisdom Made Easy.
I’ll hopefully share more about the learnings of these last 9 months in a future issue of the WISER Newsletter, but rest assured that we’re all good! This decision was the right decision for me as an individual, Zac as an individual, Wisdom Made Easy as a business and you as someone who subscribes to the WISER Newsletter.
If you would like to join me in wishing Zac the best in his next adventure, you can do so here:
Now let’s get WISER together!
Got Burdens?
If you’re following me on social media, you will have seen that I shared earlier this week that my mental health has been a little turbulent recently.
As it’s not my first experience of poor mental health, I have come to learn some of the things that benefit my wellbeing:
Exercise
Diet
Sleep
Journalling
Time spent with people
Talking
If you read last week’s issue, you’ll know that I’m spending this year focussing on my health a little more. I have started with cutting out alcohol and this week I did my first 10km run in months.
But it’s that last ingredient that what I want to reflect on today: talking.
I don’t want to reflect on your ‘average talking’. I want to encourage you to…
💬 Talk with Vulnerability
I recently had a catch-up with an old friend.
We all have a friend like them: someone that you don’t speak to every week, or even every month, but when you do eventually catch-up, you skip the small talk and go right to the deep chats.
And this was a heavy chat.
Life can have it’s challenges, and this conversation featured many of them.
We often experience a severe level of shame or fear when it comes to discuss mental health, career problems or difficulties in relationships.
But here’s today’s nugget of wisdom:

🪶 Lighten the Burdens
You don’t have to carry all the heavy stuff alone.
By finding people that you trust and carving out some time where you can speak uninterrupted, you will unlock a means to lighten your load immeasurably.
Things are often so much heavier in the mind than they are once spoken aloud.
That’s why I’m a big advocate of counselling!
If you have burdens, you’d benefit from talking about them with a trusted person.
❗️ Word of Warning
It’s worth mentioning that before you start talking to everyone about everything, it’s worth sharing a caveat.
It’s important that you find the right person to speak with.
You might’ve heard “A burden shared is a burden halved.”
Well I have news for you…

Sharing your burdens with the wrong person can make things worse.
But knowing how to find the right people to talk with is a topic for another day.
For now, I’ll trust your judgment about who you can be truly vulnerable with.
✍️ Journal Prompts
• Do you feel particularly burdened at the moment?
• Do you recognise the value in being vulnerable?
• Who are the people that you feel you can be vulnerable with?
Consider journaling through the above questions yourself.
👍 Recommendations
Here’s a couple of things that I think will complement this week’s newsletter and will help you to get wiser:
1️⃣ The first recommendation is to check out one of Zac’s issues of the WISER Newsletter.
Over the last 10 months, I’ve published over 40 newsletters.
And my favourite is one that Zac wrote about some of the last words his grandfather ever communicated.
Read it here (you won’t regret it):
2️⃣ My second recommendation for this week’s issue is a Brené Brown TED Talk on vulnerability.
Sure, this video is 12 years old, but it features some timeless wisdom.

✍️ What I’m Working On
With Zac leaving, I will be working on some rebranding back to just my ugly mug on social media channels.
There’s also some formalities involved in someone leaving a limited company, so bear with me as I navigate some of this stuff.
I’m also in the process of finishing up some fun client commissions.
I’ll then be taken a brief break from commissions to take a step back, get some perspective, then reassess how to re-engage with getting wiser myself and encouraging you to get wiser.
If you have any ideas as to things that you would like to see me explore in that effort, please get in touch!
