Now let’s get WISER together!

The Time I Slid into His DMs…

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve shared about some wise individuals that I’ve met since the start of this year. (Read about that here)

As the reception to these newsletters have been good, I have an encouragement for you:

You can meet inspiring people too. You just need to act.

For some of you reading this, that might sound obvious.

But for others, you might not believe that the difference between you meeting or even working with people that you admire is to simply do something about it.

Here are 3 examples of where I have connected with and worked with some inspiring individuals:

(And it was easier than you’d think!)

🔵 Sahil Bloom

Long-time readers of the WISER Newsletter will know that I am a fan of Sahil Bloom’s content.

And how did our working relationship start?

A reply to his Instagram Story about his Curiosity Chronicles newsletter.

Don’t believe me?

See for yourself:

I simply said “I’d love to do a visual for you to use in the newsletter sometime.”

A simple DM turned into a working relationship, which led to half a dozen awesome visuals, business revenue, reach of millions and an energizing friendship.

Surely it can’t be that easy?

Well let’s look at another example.

📈 Timo Armoo

Working with Timo Armoo was a similar story.

It didn’t start with a grand gesture or a 12-slide pitch deck.

Instead, it started with me quoting one of his tweets about saying “No, I’m good” to alcohol.

Next thing I know, I have a DM from Timo, then we’re reaching literally millions of people with our visuals.

And it all started with a mere quoted tweet.

But it’s not just working relationships that can come from taking small, easy actions.

Let me share a recent one:

✍️ Stefan Kunz

I follow a lot of creators online and because I follow Indie Beginning’s Instagram account, I got to virtually meet Stefan Kunz!

And I achieved it by merely tagging him on this post:

If you’re not familiar with Stefan’s work, he makes amazing illustrated animations that you can check out here.

An opportunity to draw upon the wisdom and expertise of a creative with 1 million followers, and all it cost me was tagging them on a post on Instagram.

Painfully simple.

🤷‍♂️ Who Cares?

You might not be interested in Sahil, Timo or Stefan.

That’s okay!

The important takeaway here is for you to begin being bold and taking small, simple actions.

  • Who are the people that you want to connect with?

  • Who do you want to collaborate with?

  • Who has wisdom that you’d benefit from?

Consider reflecting on the above questions, then working your way through today’s journaling prompts.

✍️ Journal Prompts

• Name 3 people that you would like to connect with
• Why do you want to connect with them?
• What small, simple activity can you do to begin a relationship with them?

Consider journaling through the above questions yourself.

The second thing is that I’m not just sharing video content on YouTube this year.

I’m dipping my toe into the world of TikTok.
